1、 What is acrylic material

Acrylic, also known as PMMA or acrylic, yajiali. The chemical name is polymethyl methacrylate. Originated from English organic glass, it means PMMA board made of MMA of organic compounds, which is transparent and transparent as glass. Acrylic is an important thermoplastic developed earlier.

Acrylic products include acrylic board, acrylic plastic granule, acrylic light box, signboard, acrylic bathtub, acrylic artificial marble, acrylic resin, acrylic (latex) paint and other products, with a wide variety. The acrylic products commonly seen by people are acrylic products which are made of raw materials such as acrylic particles, plates or resins through various processing methods and assembled with various materials and functional parts. As for acrylic fiber, acrylic cotton, acrylic yarn, acrylic nylon, etc., which are often heard, refer to the man-made fiber polymerized from acrylic acid, which is not related to acrylic products.

2、 Main uses of acrylic materials

PMMA is a kind of polymer which is polymerized by acrylic acid and its esters. The corresponding plastics are called polyacrylic plastics. Among them, polymethylmethacrylate methyl ester is the most widely used. PMMA, commonly known as plexiglass, is the best synthetic transparent material so far.

PMMA has the advantages of light weight, low price and easy forming. Its forming methods include casting, injection molding, machining, thermoforming, etc. In particular, injection molding can be mass production, simple process, low cost. Therefore, it is widely used in instrument parts, automobile lamps, optical lenses, transparent pipes, etc.

Application fields:

1. Building application: window, soundproof door and window, daylighting cover, telephone booth, etc

2. Advertising Application: light box, signboard, signboard, exhibition stand, etc

3. Traffic application: train, automobile and other vehicle doors and windows

4. Medical application: baby care box, various surgical medical instruments and household products: sanitary facilities, handicrafts, cosmetics, brackets, aquariums, etc

5. Industrial application: instrument panel and cover, etc

6. Lighting application: fluorescent lamp, chandelier, street lamp cover, etc

Application fields: hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, clubs, villas, museums, medical treatment, education, catering, exhibition and display, etc

Application area: ceiling, integrated ceiling, partition, screen, sliding door, transparent wall, hotel furniture, office furniture, bar, lighting, chandelier, logo, sign, floor, landscape, etc.

3、 Advantages and disadvantages of acrylic materials

Advantages: acrylic is the best new material for making sanitary wares after ceramics. Compared with traditional ceramic materials, acrylic has the following advantages besides incomparable high gloss brightness: good toughness and hard breakage. It has strong restorative properties. Only using soft foam to dip toothpaste can wipe the sanitary ware. The texture is soft, and there is no cold chill feeling in winter; bright colors can satisfy different tastes of personality pursuit. Making basins, bathtubs and toilets with acrylic is not only exquisite and durable, but also environmentally friendly. Its radiation line is similar to the radiation level of human body's own bones. Acrylic sanitary ware first appeared in the United States, has occupied more than 70% of the international market.

Disadvantages: due to the difficulty and high cost of acrylic production, there are many low-cost substitutes in the market. These substitutes, also known as "acrylic", are actually ordinary organic boards or composite boards (also known as sandwich boards). Ordinary organic board is cast with ordinary organic glass cracking material and pigment. Its surface hardness is low and it is easy to fade. The polishing effect is poor after polishing with fine sand. The composite plate has only a very thin layer of acrylic on its surface and ABS plastic in the middle, which is easy to be delaminating due to the influence of heat expansion and cold shrinkage in use. True and false acrylic can be identified from the fine color difference and polishing effect of the plate section.
